Safety Equipment

• Required: dipped foam headgear, gloves, and foot protectors, mouth guard, groin protector (men)
• Optional: chest protector, shin guards, face shield

Match Guidelines

• Matches are regulated by a center referee, two corner judges, a timekeeper, and a scorekeeper. The center referee has final discretion in all decisions.
• Matches end when one competitor scores five points or the time limit expires.
• Matches have a two minute time limit, after which the competitor with the most points is declared the winner.  In the event of a tie, the round continues until a unanimous point is scored.
• Safety equipment must be properly secured at all times.  Competitors who enter the ring with unsecured equipment may be penalized with a one point deduction.
• Use of excessive contact, intentionally running out of the ring, or poor sportsmanship will result in: one warning (first offense), one point deduction (second offense), and forfeiture (third offense)

Scoring - Tiger Beginners (White Belt through Yellow Belt)

• Target area: body only (neck to kidneys to belt)
• Light contact: a tap or touch
• Reverse punch to body: 1 point
• Kick to body: 2 points

Scoring - White Belt through Purple Belt

• Target areas: head (protected part only) and body (neck to kidneys to belt)
• Light contact: a tap or touch
• Lead or reverse hand technique to head: 1 point
• Reverse punch to body: 1 point
• Kick to head or body: 2 points

Scoring - Blue Belt through Half-Black Belt

• Target areas: head (protected part only) and body (neck to kidneys to belt)
• Light contact to head
• Light to medium contact to body
• Sweeps and leg checks are allowed, but never against the joint
• Lead or reverse hand technique to head: 1 point
• Reverse punch to body: 1 point
• Kick to head or body: 2 points
• Aerial kick to head: 3 points
• Takedown: 2 points, 3 points f both opponent’s feet leave ground
• Counter: 1 point
• Follow Up: 1 point
