• Weapon Fighting

  • Weapon classes are for our sport application of weaponry. We train using several kinds and combinations of wooden/bamboo weapons. Fundamentals, combinations, and drilling make up the largest part of class and some matching is saved for the end. All adult students should wear their weapon fighting uniform to this class and those who have full armor* will be allowed to participate in matching. Little Tiger and Junior students may wear their regular uniform, but should have foam weapon fighting gear and weapons to attend.

  • *A full set of weapon fighting armor is usually an investment for the average student, so many people may not have any for quite some time. However, we still encourage these students to attend weapon fighting class with just a basic weapon fighting uniform and a set of weapons. The detail-oriented nature of weapon fighting requires months if not years of drilling and fundamentals before a student would be proficient enough to match anyway. Coming to class and developing a basic skill set before worrying about armor and matching is the best way to grow into a great weapon fighter.
